Birth Matters Doula Services and Childbirth Education

A Professional Doula is a woman who is trained and experienced in supporting women  through childbirth. She provides physical, emotional, and informational support to the expectant family before, during, and after birth.  Doulas recognize birth as a key life experience that a woman will remember all her life.  The Doula works to nurture and protect that experience by encouraging the woman to give birth in her own unique way.

Birth Matter’s doulas maintain an outstanding standard of professionalism that is respected throughout the birth community by families, nurses, midwives, family physicians and obstetricians. Our goal is to:

Educate and inform women about their choices during pregnancy, labour and birth so they can make confident, informed decisions about their bodies and their babies.

Advocate for the baby by educating women about how their birth experience shapes the life of their unborn baby.

Support and encourage women to honour their bodies and trust in their ability to give birth.

After your baby is born, a postpartum doula can provide support, hands-on guidance, breastfeeding support and completion of day-to-day household tasks that many new mothers find overwhelming.
